Turkish Security Forces Arrest 11 ISIS Suspects

Turkish authorities arrested 11 people suspected of belonging to ISIS, in a security operation in Izmir, west of the country.

Security sources reported Wednesday that teams from the Counter Terrorism Division in Izmir and the Intelligence Directorate, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, carried out a simultaneous security operation on 13 locations in Izmir for ISIS suspects.

Teams arrested 11 of the 13 wanted suspects, in addition to seizing large quantities of digital materials and four banned publications during the inspection operations. Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to arrest two other suspects, sources added.

For years, the Turkish police and army forces have been pursuing members of armed organizations, including ISIS, inside the country and on the borders with Syria and Iraq.
