Bougainvillea Enhances Jazan’s Ecotourism Appeal and Urban Landscape

Jazan: Jazan Region's rich plant diversity has become a key driver of its ecotourism appeal, with flowering trees and ornamental plants enhancing parks, waterfronts, promenades, and public spaces. This reflects ongoing efforts to expand green cover, improve the urban landscape, and elevate public amenities in line with quality-of-life goals.

According to Saudi Press Agency, among the region's most distinctive ornamental plants is the bougainvillea, valued for its rapid growth, vibrant colors, and resilience to Jazan's warm climate. Its widespread use in landscaping has made it a defining visual feature of many tourist destinations. Thriving in sunny, well-drained locations, bougainvillea is also highly drought-tolerant and requires relatively little water, making it ideal for sustainable greening projects.

The colorful blooms have become a favorite attraction for visitors and photographers, while the Jazan Municipality and affiliated municipalities continue expanding bougainvillea planting as part of broader initiatives to enhance urban aesthetics, increase vegetation cover, and support the environmental sustainability and quality-of-life objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
