Riyadh: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA): has issued the first license to a factory specializing in developing medical software and applications in the Kingdom. This is part of the licensing initiative for medical software developers in digital health, introduced during the Global Health Exhibition 2024.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the factory has developed an innovative medical device that utilizes thermal imaging technology and image analysis through advanced software to detect diabetic foot symptoms in early stages. This device has successfully completed all required clinical studies approved by the SFDA.
The authority affirmed that this step underscores its commitment to bolstering the medical devices industry in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. It aims to keep pace with technological advancements in various fields of work, fostering innovation and supporting innovators in the realm of advanced medical devices and supplies.
