Kampala: The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), represented by Director General of the Department of Africa Operations Mohammed bin Adhan Al-Shammari, participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the construction and equipping of the Heart Center in Kampala, Uganda.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the project is financed by a $30 million soft development loan from SFD and was launched in the presence of Ugandan Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Uganda Mohammad bin Khalil Faloudah.

The center is designed to enhance cardiovascular care in Uganda by expanding the treatment capacity at the Uganda Heart Institute. It will provide 222 medical beds and improve healthcare services, and serve as a hub for training healthcare professionals in cardiovascular medicine.

The project includes the construction of a main medical facility, a research center, and residential housing for doctors, along with the procurement of state-of-the-art medical and technical equipment. It is expected to benefit over 62,400 patients and boost economic growth through job creation in the healthcare sector.
