6.1-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Eastern Philippines

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Catanduanes province in the eastern Philippines today. No casualties or damages have been reported so far. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the epicenter occurred 81 km from the city of Bagamanoc at a depth of 350 kilometers. The Philippines is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where about 90% of the world's earthquakes occur. The last major earthquake to hit the country was a 7.1-magnitude quake that claimed the lives of over 220 people in the central Philippines in 2013. Source: Saudi Press Agency
