Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted four attempts to smuggle more than 261,000 amphetamine pills and 9.8 kg of methamphetamine, found hidden in vehicles and shipments at King Abdulaziz International Airport, Duba Port, and Al-Batha Border Crossing.

According to Saudi Press Agency, ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that customs officials uncovered 49,929 amphetamine pills concealed within wooden tables at Duba Port. Additionally, 20,209 amphetamine pills were discovered in a traveler's bag at King Abdulaziz International Airport. Two separate smuggling attempts at Al-Batha Border Crossing were also intercepted-one involving 191,764 amphetamine pills hidden in the floor of a truck, and another involving 9.8 kg of methamphetamine also concealed in a truck.

Following these significant seizures, ZATCA coordinated efforts with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, resulting in the arrest of three individuals who were intended recipients of the drugs within the Kingdom.

Al-Harbi highlighted ZATCA's dedication to enhancing customs control measures and safeguarding society from illegal imports. He encouraged the public to report any smuggling activities by calling 1910 or emailing [email protected]. He assured that all reports are treated with complete confidentiality and noted that accurate information could lead to a financial reward.
