Weqaya Advises Umrah Performers, Prophet’s Mosque Visitors on Preventing Respiratory Infections

General

Alula: The Public Health Authority (Weqaya) provided preventive advice to Umrah performers and visitors of the Prophet's Mosque to limit respiratory infections, supporting the health system's efforts to promote preventive care and enable pilgrims to perform their rituals safely and comfortably at the Two Holy Mosques, in line with the Health Sector Transformation Program and Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority noted that wearing a mask during Tawaf and Sa'i and in crowded places contributes to enhancing prevention, alongside avoiding peak times and severe crowding as much as possible. These guidelines reduce the likelihood of infection, decrease the severity of respiratory diseases and related complications, limit transmission among Umrah performers and visitors, and help protect their families upon return.

Among these health recommendations is receiving the required vaccinations for performing Umrah, especially for groups most vulnerable to infection, such as the elderly and those with chronic diseases. Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty application.
