Riyadh: The skies of the Kingdom and several countries around the world witnessed an astronomical phenomenon as the waxing gibbous moon aligned with Spica, the brightest star in the Virgo constellation and the fifteenth brightest star in the night sky.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Astronomy and Space Club noted that this event was visible without the need for telescopes or other observation tools. With the onset of nightfall, the moon and Spica appeared in a close apparent conjunction, separated by an angular distance of less than one degree, or about 21.21 arc minutes. This provided a captivating sight for sky watchers and astrophotographers.
