Turkish authorities announced today that 23 irregular migrants were rescued in the Aegean Sea, and that 35 others were arrested while trying to leave the country illegally in the coastal provinces of Mugla and Edirne, close to the country’s borders with Bulgaria.
In a statement, the Turkish coast guard said that they rescued 23 irregular migrants who were stranded in the Aegean Sea near the Bodrum district of Mugla province in southwestern Turkiye, In Edirne, the Turkish border guards held 35 irregular migrants when they tried to leave the country illegally, noting that the rescued and seized migrants were transferred to the Immigration Department in the two states to take legal action.
