Muscat: President of the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi emphasized that the world is at a critical juncture where artificial intelligence has evolved from academic discussion to a transformative reality. This shift opens new opportunities for innovators and necessitates a responsible approach to its challenges.
According to Saudi Press Agency, he made these remarks during the Oman Research and Education Network (OMREN) Technology Summit, organized by Oman's Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, alongside prominent leaders and experts in technology and AI.
Dr. Alghamdi stated, "Saudi Arabia has invested early in data and AI for their vital role in shaping the future, making them central to Saudi Vision 2030. Established in 2019, SDAIA leads this effort. The Kingdom has achieved notable global rankings in AI, including first in empowering women, second in community awareness, third in job growth, and fourth in pioneering model development."
He also noted the rapid technological advancements in Oman and its ambitious vision for adopting data and AI technologies, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to digital transformation.
Dr. Alghamdi concluded by stressing the historical ties and shared visions between Saudi Arabia and Oman, underscoring that collaboration in data and AI is essential for enhancing regional competitiveness and fostering prosperity through innovation.
