Jazan: The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) detected an earthquake yesterday with a magnitude of 4.68 on the Richter scale, located 150 km west of Jazan in the southern Red Sea. The Saudi National Seismic Network stations recorded the quake.
According to Saudi Press Agency, SGS spokesperson Tariq Aba Al-Khail confirmed the earthquake was caused by tectonic activity associated with faulting and seafloor spreading in the Red Sea. He emphasized that the quake poses no danger due to its distance from populated areas and borders.
