Saudi Red Crescent Teams Save Nigerian Umrah Performer after Cardiac Arrest

Madinah: Emergency medical teams from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) in Madinah Region saved the life of a 40-year-old Nigerian performer after he suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest in the courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque. According to Saudi Press Agency, the incident was handled with a rapid and professional response, with medical teams reaching the pilgrim within 32 seconds on Thursday evening. Acting Director General of the SRCA Madinah Region branch Dr. Omar Al-Attas said the emergency teams immediately assessed the pilgrim upon arrival and determined that he was in cardiac and respiratory arrest. They promptly initiated approved medical protocols and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), while an additional emergency support team was dispatched to the scene. After stabilizing the pilgrim at the site, the medical teams transported him to Al-Safiyah Health Center. He was handed over to medical staff after resuscitation efforts succeeded and his pulse was restored. Dr. Al-Attas said t he successful response reflected the high level of readiness and coordination between the medical dispatch center and emergency teams, as well as the expertise and training of SRCA personnel. He urged the public to cooperate with emergency responders and report medical emergencies promptly, emphasizing that rapid reporting can directly save lives.
