NCEC Issues 5,432 Environmental Permits in H1 2025

Riyadh: The National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) announced the issuance of 5,432 environmental permits during the first half of 2025. This comes in line with the expansion of new establishments and notable growth in the environmental labor market, reflecting progress toward achieving sustainable development goals and reinforcing compliance with the environmental standards outlined in the Environmental Law and its executive regulations.



According to Saudi Press Agency, Director of licensing and permits at NCEC Abdullah Al-Ghamdi stated that environmental permits are a cornerstone of the national strategy for environmental protection and sustainability. He noted that the increasing number of establishments obtaining these permits highlights investors’ growing interest in environmental compliance and contributes to ensuring the continuity of economic activities without harming the environment.



During the same period, the center issued over 86 licenses for environmental service providers tasked with fulfilling regulatory requirements for establishments with environmental impact. These services include preparing environmental reports, corrective plans, rehabilitation efforts, and other services ensuring compliance with the Environmental Law and environmental executive regulations.



The environmental services market also saw the entry of 59 new consulting offices, raising the total number of licensed environmental service providers to 511. Furthermore, around 15 licensed environmental laboratories joined the market to offer analytical testing services for environmentally impactful establishments, bringing the total number of specialized environmental laboratories to 33. The number of licenses granted to environmental training centers during the same period reached five.
