Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed Australia's announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine, as well as New Zealand's decision to consider taking the same step.

According to Saudi Press Agency, a statement issued today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the growing international consensus in support of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Kingdom emphasized that this critical phase requires peace-loving nations to formally recognize the State of Palestine and actively support efforts to end the prolonged war, particularly in light of Israel's ongoing violations of international and humanitarian laws.
