Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi welcomed Australia's announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine, as well as New Zealand's announcement that it is studying the recognition of Palestine.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi emphasized that these steps represent significant support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and reflect the principles and values enshrined in international charters and resolutions.
He praised the principled and steadfast positions of both Australia and New Zealand in backing the Palestinian cause and their commitment to strengthening international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative, and international legitimacy resolutions, ensuring the Palestinian people's right to establish their independent state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
