Saudi Arabia Strengthens Maritime Security at IMO Council Meeting

London: Saudi Arabia, represented by the Transport General Authority (TGA), actively participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) held in London. The Saudi delegation was led by Eng. Kamal Al-Junaidi, the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the IMO.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Eng. Al-Junaidi emphasized Saudi Arabia's steadfast commitment to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). He highlighted the Kingdom's focus on navigational warnings, search and rescue operations, vessel routing, and preventing maritime hazards. He underscored the importance of protecting maritime routes, ensuring freedom of navigation, and contributing to the stability of energy markets and global supply chains. Saudi Arabia aims to remain a responsible partner dedicated to maritime safety, safeguarding lives, and supporting a rules-based international system along with joint cooperation.

Saudi Arabia's participation in the IMO Council meeting is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international collaboration in maritime navigation security. This involves improving monitoring, exchanging information, enhancing readiness to respond to threats, and facilitating the smooth flow of global trade through safe and stable corridors.
