Riyadh: The Ministry of Health has released its 2025 annual health system report, showcasing transformative achievements that demonstrate the rapid development of the health sector and significant improvements in service quality.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the report supports the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom's vision aims to create a 'Vibrant Society' through stronger prevention and better quality of life, foster a 'Thriving Economy' by improving healthcare spending efficiency and expanding investment, and build an 'Ambitious Nation' underpinned by a sustainable health system and advanced patient-centered services.
The report attributes these achievements to integrated efforts based on the principles of the Health in All Policies (HiAP) and the "single government approach," in active partnership with various government entities.
Key highlights include an increase in average life expectancy to 79.7 years, a 50% reduction in deaths from infectious diseases, and a 40% reduction in mortality from non-communicable (chronic) diseases.
It also reports a 30% decline in deaths from unintentional injuries and a 60% drop in road traffic fatalities, demonstrating the impact of national integration and the development of preventive and therapeutic healthcare models.
The report commends the success of the Global Health Exhibition, which generated initiatives and investments totaling more than SAR124 billion. It highlights the World Health Organization's designation of 16 Saudi cities as 'Healthy Cities,' including Jeddah and Madinah, the Middle East's first million-plus population cities to receive the designation.
The report underscores the scale of transformation in Saudi Arabia's health sector. It affirms the ministry's commitment to its supervisory and regulatory role in building a world-class healthcare system that enhances prevention, quality of life, service efficiency, and sustainability, positioning the Kingdom among the world's leading nations in health.
