Riyadh: The Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT) announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of ductile iron pipes. The investigation covers cast iron pipes and hollow tubes with diameters ranging from 100mm to 1,000 mm and of K9 and C40 classes, originating from or exported from India.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this decision aligns with the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade issued on November 23, 2022. The law stipulates in Article 4.1 that 'the authority is responsible for trade remedies including conducting investigations, reviews, and the imposition of measures in accordance with the Kingdom's international commitments, especially under the Anti-Dumping Agreement, the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, and the Agreement on Safeguards.'
Since the issuance of the law, GAFT has conducted several investigations across various industrial sectors to protect the local industry from harm caused by dumped and subsidized imports, prevent increases in imports, and defend Saudi exports that are subject to trade remedy proceedings.
GAFT offers additional information about the investigations on its website (gaft.gov.sa) under the sections 'Notices and Circulars of Trade Remedies Investigations' and 'Details of Ongoing Investigations and Reviews.'
