Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the G20 Innovation Ministerial Meeting, held in the United States, with a delegation headed by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during its participation, the Kingdom emphasized the importance of building an AI age that protects human creativity, expands capabilities, and provides a clear and enabling environment for innovation. The focus was on fostering growth and prosperity while making the opportunities of AI accessible to all.
The Kingdom's remarks highlighted the need to protect human creativity and enable innovation by safeguarding intellectual property and creators' rights. It stressed the importance of providing clear regulatory frameworks that allow AI to grow lawfully and developing standards that strengthen trust, facilitate the movement of technology across markets, and reduce regulatory duplication.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of expanding global capacity in computing, connectivity, and manufacturing. It advocated for strengthening investment and diversifying supply chains to help build a more resilient global ecosystem and prevent the AI divide between economies from widening.
Saudi Arabia contributed to discussions of the G20 Innovation Working Group on policies that support innovation, AI-related standards, and investment in infrastructure and technology supply chains. The discussions aimed at advancing international cooperation and supporting a more inclusive and competitive global economy in the Intelligence Age.
The Kingdom's participation builds on its active role within the G20 and its contribution to shaping international directions on AI and advanced technologies. This further reinforces its position as an influential global partner in building a technology- and innovation-driven global economy.
