Jeddah: The Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) committee on developing the general conference mechanisms has commenced its work under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia, which currently presides over the 27th session of the general conference. The committee includes 12 member states: Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Algeria, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Comoros, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the committee held its first meeting, headed by the Chairman of ALECSO Executive Board Hani Al-Moqbel, in implementation of the decision of the general conference, which Saudi Arabia hosted in Jeddah in May 2024. The decision was based on a proposal submitted by Saudi Arabia and unanimously approved by member states. The committee will continue its work and meetings, with its final report to be presented at the next general conference, scheduled to be hosted in Oman in 2026.
