Al-Khobar, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) achieved a remarkable feat at the 2024 International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (IEIG) by securing two medals among several won by Saudi universities at the exhibition held last week. A faculty member at the university Dr. Ghazanfar Latif, clinched the gold medal in artificial intelligence (AI), while Dr. Mohammad Asad received the bronze medal in mechanics. Dr. Latif received this medal for his innovation of advanced Braille language, aimed at facilitating the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals, contributing to improving communication and enhancing integration opportunities for this segment of society. Dr. Asad earned the bronze medal for an innovation aimed at enhancing the flexibility of robots and reducing maintenance time. The invention represents a technological advancement, enabling robots to operate more efficiently and withstand pressures related to weight and movement. PMU has secured a spot in the top 100 global universi ties in terms of patent registrations for the year 2023, registering 38 patents at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
