New York: The high-level international conference focused on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue concluded with the New York Declaration, emphasizing a time-bound commitment to implementing the two-state solution. Jointly chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, the conference underscored the necessity of collective action to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza and ensure Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, handing it over to the Palestinian Authority.
According to the Union of OIC News Agencies, the declaration highlighted the importance of political solutions over war, occupation, and forced displacement, asserting that such measures cannot achieve lasting peace or security. The conference reaffirmed its dedication to mobilizing both political and financial support to empower the Palestinian Authority, enabling it to strengthen its institutional capacities and implement necessary reforms across the occupied territories.
The declaration also called for the immediate release of withheld Palestinian tax revenues and the establishment of a new framework for the transfer of clearance revenues. This framework aims to provide Palestine with full control over its tax system and integrate it into the international monetary system, ensuring sustainable banking relations.
Furthermore, the declaration stressed preserving the legal and historical status quo at Jerusalem’s holy sites and advocated for measures against violent extremist settlers. The conference concluded by affirming that the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state is essential for regional coexistence and normal relations.
The New York Declaration represents a collective commitment to achieving a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question, taking concrete, time-bound, and irreversible steps towards implementing the two-state solution.
