Riyadh: The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in cooperation with the Authority for the Care of People with Disabilities (APD), has launched the "Qari'e" digital platform, which provides visually impaired individuals, including the blind, with safe and easy access to book content across local and international platforms.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this initiative is part of the Kingdom's broader efforts to promote cultural and intellectual inclusion, ensuring equitable access to knowledge for all segments of society. It also reflects its ongoing commitment to the Marrakesh Treaty, which aims to facilitate access to published works for persons with visual disabilities or those who have difficulty reading printed materials.
The "Qari'e" platform enhances access to cultural and intellectual content through inclusive design features that support screen readers, text magnifiers, and other assistive technologies. It offers high-quality content in multiple languages, comprehensive technical support, and free subscriptions to both local and international digital libraries.
This initiative supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming for an integrated knowledge-based society.
