General

Dubai: As part of its commitment to preserving the environment and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources, the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) hosted a seminar titled Community Partnership in Managing and Sustaining Natural Rangelands on Sunday, January 26, in Bisha Governorate. The seminar aimed to develop sustainable strategies for rangeland management in collaboration with key stakeholders and to raise community awareness about environmental sustainability. By fostering collaboration, the initiative seeks to maximize its impact and contribute to the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative.

According to Saudi Press Agency, key topics discussed included the significance of natural rangelands in supporting local communities, the NCVC's role in advancing rangeland development across Saudi Arabia, the challenges facing natural rangelands, and potential community-driven solutions.

This seminar is part of the NCVC's broader efforts to conserve and enhance natural rangeland ecosystems. The initiative focuses on sustainability, protecting rangeland resources critical for livestock-dependent communities, enriching biodiversity, mitigating soil erosion, and reducing the risks of dust storms.

The NCVC also develops, protects, and monitors vegetation sites across the Kingdom; rehabilitates degraded lands; combats illegal logging; and oversees natural rangelands, forests, and national parks to drive sustainable development and achieve the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative.
