Qatif: The farmers' market in Qatif Governorate is seeing a strong turnout from shoppers, farmers, traders, and agricultural companies. It aims to spotlight and support distinctive local crops, empower farmers, and highlight Qatif's agricultural wealth. According to Saudi Press Agency, the market features 60 booths and offers fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, dates, dairy products, and other products like date syrup and organic tomato sauces infused with herbs. Beekeepers and traditional food producers present delicious local dishes, and farms showcase 100% organic fruits and vegetables, promoting a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.
The market boasts artisan spaces that highlight a diverse array of industries and hobbies. Artist and craftsman Hussein Al-Dahim is among the participants, offering his unique talent for combining Arabic calligraphy with beads and crystals. With over 45 years of experience in this rare craft, he has also contributed to numerous local festivals across the Kingdom.
Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Branch in the Eastern Region Fahd Al-Hamzi highlighted that the farmers' market is an exemplary marketing model for local agricultural products. He added that it bolsters the local agricultural sector and enhances national production, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to achieve sustainable development across various sectors, including agriculture, by enhancing food security, supporting local farmers, and improving the efficiency of agricultural production.
