Minister Hayek discusses with UNDP ways to support the tourism sector in Palestine

Bethlehem – Together – Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Hani Al-Hayek received Director of the Office of the United Nations Development Program in Palestine UNDP, Sarah Poole, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the city of Bethlehem, in the presence of Majid Ishaq, Director General of Tourism Marketing, Jihad Yassin, Director General of Museums and Excavations, and Moataz Dawabsha, Director of Projects in UNDP.

Minister Hayek welcomed Ms. Poole, stressing the strength of relations between Palestine and the United Nations Development Programme, which was translated on the ground through the implementation of a number of joint projects to serve Palestine and the tourism and cultural heritage sectors.

Al-Hayek stressed the importance of supporting the private Palestinian tourism sector, especially in light of the current crisis that this sector is going through as a result of its complete cessation of work due to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, stressing the importan
ce of confronting this crisis with the least possible damage.

Mrs. Sarah Paul stressed the strength of the bilateral relations between the two parties, praising the projects that were completed between the two parties, which are evidence of the success of the partnership between the two sides, indicating her readiness to cooperate during the coming period for the benefit of both parties.

During the meeting, ways to support the Palestinian tourism sector and the tangible cultural heritage sector were discussed, in addition to discussing ways to support the global tourism promotion of Palestine in international tourism forums, in addition to discussing work priorities in terms of programs and projects during the coming period.
