Madinah: Governor of Madinah Region and Chairman of the Permanent Hajj and Umrah Committee of the region’s principality Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, accompanied by Deputy Governor of the region Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz inspected Miqat Dhul-Hulaifah. During the tour, the governor reviewed development and rehabilitation works and projects underway at the miqat, aimed at enhancing services provided to pilgrims and improving the quality of the spiritual experience for visitors, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Pilgrim Experience Program.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the projects include increasing the mosque’s capacity from 5,000 worshippers to more than 15,000. Prince Salman emphasized the importance of the miqat mosque as one of the most prominent designated entry points for millions of pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors year-round. He stressed the need to continuously improve service efficiency and strengthen coordination among relevant entities to enhance the quality of services for pilgrims during the first stage of Hajj rituals.
The governor was also briefed on the development of the mosque’s services, including the complete replacement of carpets in the prayer area in accordance with the mosque’s visual identity, covering an area exceeding 2,400 square meters. The project also included upgrading the sound system using modern microphones and a digital sound mixing system connected to a control unit with more than 196 internal and external speakers.
