AlUla: During the holy month of Ramadan, the tables of the Kingdom are adorned with luxurious AlUla dates. As one of the largest date-producing regions in the Kingdom, AlUla's agricultural sector, under the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), boasts expansive palm farms stretching across 16,579 hectares. These farms are home to more than 3.1 million palm trees, yielding an annual production of 116,056 tons of various types of dates.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the date production season in AlUla runs from August 15 to October 30, a period marked by significant economic activity. Barni dates, the most renowned variety in the region, make up 80% of the annual harvest.
Throughout Ramadan, AlUla markets experience a surge in demand for various dates, reflecting their continued popularity. RCU remains committed to nurturing the agricultural sector, providing farmers with training courses, workshops, and dedicated markets, events, and festivals to promote local products. One of the RCU's flagship initiatives, the AlUla Dates Festival, plays a vital role in marketing local produce while preserving the region's rich heritage.
In addition, the ongoing "Model Farm and Field School" project continues its work during Ramadan, offering specialized workshops aimed at improving agricultural practices for residents and farmers.
