The Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory commission (CARC) and its Omani counterpart discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the field of organizing air transport services, over a two-day period. According to a CARC statement on Thursday, the two sides agreed to remove the operating points restrictions in the two countries and launch cooperation between Oman Air and Royal Jordanian (RJ) in the field of code-share operation, and stimulate both parties’ other airlines to reach arrangements in this regard, aimed to optimally benefit from opportunities available to enter the two nations’ markets. The two sides said the two countries’ airlines are allowed to operate charter flights for both passengers and freight between the Kingdom and Oman, in accordance with the regulations applied by each country. Discussions with the Omani side are “constructive,” and would reflect “positively” on the overall volume of joint air transport, especially as an agreement was reached to liberate operating points, the statement said.
This step is consistent with the policy of gradual liberation of air transport, adopted by Jordanian government through the National Air Transport Strategy, CARC noted.
