Minister of Government Communication Faisal Shboul lectured Thursday on the role of media spokespeople in expressing the plans and projects of ministries and institutions and in delivering information to the media. In discussion with ministry and public institution spokespersons and liaison officers, Shboul said, “The presence of media spokespeople will become a permanent culture in every ministry and institution.” During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Government Communication, Shboul praised the role of media spokespersons in “enriching” the national dialogue on public policy for information and government communication by the Economic and Social Council. He discussed the efforts of the Ministry of Government Communication in training spokespeople and government communication workers over the next three years and in designing and preparing media training programmes. He added that the Ministry of Government Communication would activate the “Nateq” platform within the ministry’s website, noting that the platform would highlight the work of ministry and public institution spokespersons. Shboul discussed Jordan’s hosting of the UNESCO International Conference, “Global Week of Media and Information Literacy and the Youth Agenda,” scheduled at the Dead Sea from October 23 to 25. He said the UNESCO-supported conference would have “large” participation from different countries and include 15 sessions. On the Arab strategy for dealing with international media companies, Shboul said the Arab technical team would start negotiating with social media companies to “reach mutual solutions.”
