Jordan imported around 1.276 million cellular devices during the first nine months of 2023 for a total worth of JD111.6 million. The Vision Association for Mobile Devices Investors released a statement on Tuesday stating that 410,000 devices worth JD43 million were imported in the first quarter of 2023. The second quarter saw 342,000 devices worth JD32 million imported, while the third quarter concluded with 524,000 devices worth JD36.6 million imported. According to Ahmad Alloush, head of the group, there has been a significant decline in imports compared to previous years. The total import for 2022 amounted to JD174 million, representing a 16 percent decrease compared to 2021. He attributed this decline to the 16 percent tax imposed on cellular devices, which has had a direct impact on the volume of imports and device prices for the final consumer. Alloush has urged the government to take concrete steps in supporting the growth of the sector, which has experienced a significant decline year after year. He expected the sector to witness further decline due to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and its impact on the region, resulting in a drop in the movement of visitors and tourists to the Kingdom. He emphasized that proactive measures are required to protect various sectors, including the cellular devices sector. !3General!4
