Imam Turki Reserve’s Houbara Center Targets 25,000 Birds in Major Conservation Push

Riyadh: The Houbara breeding center at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority stands as a flagship environmental initiative dedicated to breeding the Houbara bustard and reintroducing it into a healthy, sustainable habitat, supporting biodiversity conservation and strengthening ecological balance across the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the center comprises 22 advanced research and veterinary facilities, built to the highest international scientific standards to ensure efficient breeding, high-quality care, and optimal production outcomes. In its final phase, the center is expected to reach a capacity of approximately 25,000 birds, significantly advancing efforts to protect this vulnerable species and promote the sustainability of wildlife populations.

Beyond conservation, the center contributes to enhancing biodiversity, creating employment opportunities for local communities, and supporting national efforts to safeguard and develop natural heritage in line with environmental sustainability goals.
