Riyadh: At the Saudi International Handicrafts Week (Banan): Tiona Gorgiasvili, owner of a ceramics project, represents Georgia with vibrant ceramics, viewing her participation as a unique opportunity to showcase Georgian culture to Saudi and international audiences.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Gorgiasvili initially pursued pottery for relaxation, which evolved into a full-time project involving design and execution. Her works have been featured in various international exhibitions.
Before joining Banan, Gorgiasvili studied Saudi culture and integrated traditional Georgian dessert molds, noting their similarity to maamoul (date-filled pastries). Visitors appreciated these pieces, which merge Georgian symbols with hospitality.
This is her first experience at the Saudi International Handicrafts Week, and she hopes for future participation, recognizing the event as a platform for cultural exchange.
Gorgiasvili believes that international events that celebrate handicrafts rejuvenate traditional industries and provide valuable artistic experiences.
