GCC Secretary General: GCC-UK Ministerial Meeting Reviews Negotiations for Free Trade Agreements

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi said that the ministerial meeting held by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United Kingdom has reviewed the progress made toward partnership between the two sides, including negotiations concerning free trade agreements.

 

Al-Budaiwi said at the meeting held Monday by the GCC foreign ministers and British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, James Cleverly on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City that it comes to strengthen the strategic partnership in all fields, including political, defense, security, commercial and cultural, and will help confront the challenges faced by the region and the world.

 

He also said that several regional and international files and issues were discussed at the meeting, and that the UK side was briefed on the statement issued by the Ministerial Council of the GCC Foreign Ministers at their coordination meeting held on Monday about the latest developments in the Republic of Iraq, specifically the ruling of the Federal Supreme Court and its negative effects.

 

Al-Budaiwi stressed that the GCC countries and the UK seek to work together to maintain peace, security, stability, prosperity and fruitful cooperation in areas that serve their common interests.
