GCA President Highlights Importance of SAI Independence at Paris Meeting

Paris: General Court of Audit (GCA) President Dr. Hussam Alangari participated in a high-level meeting in Paris focused on the Global Project on Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) Independence. The meeting brought together heads of SAIs from around the world.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in his address, Alangari emphasized the crucial role of SAI independence in promoting efficiency, accountability, and transparency within the public sector. He stressed the importance of SAIs safeguarding their independence and addressing related challenges.

Alangari highlighted the Kingdom's 2019 Royal Decree amending the GCA system, strengthening the GCA's independence by establishing its direct link to the King and granting it legal personality and financial and administrative autonomy.

He expressed Saudi Arabia's pride in participating in the Global Project on SAI Independence, a collaborative initiative between the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Development Initiative and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The project aims to identify and understand best practices and positive impacts of SAI independence while addressing the challenges these institutions face.
