Johannesburg: The final rounds of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Competition for the Memorization of the Noble Quran and Prophetic Sunnah for the African Continent officially started in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the competition is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance through its religious attach© at the embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of South Africa.
A total of 44 contestants from 29 African countries are participating in the finals, including 29 competitors in Quran memorization and 15 in the Sunnah branch. The finalists were selected from over 80,000 contestants who took part in the preliminary rounds, representing 1,840 Quran schools and associations across the participating countries.
The competition is judged by an international panel of scholars specialized in Quran and Quranic sciences from both Saudi Arabia and South Africa. The contests are held in three Quran memorization categories: the full Quran, 10 Juz,' and 5 Juz,' in addition to one branch for the Sunnah. Three prizes are allocated for each category.
