Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) said road transport sector operators must comply with regulations, and deliver the best services to pilgrims during the Haj season of 1445, and abide by the requirements regulating the cargo sector. According to the authority, cards issued to truck operators indicate that all technical requirements are respected, and data about the vehicles on public roads will be recorded. Safe cargo loading contributes to the safety of both road users and commodities transported. TGA pointed out that companies and individuals can access the cargo-securing guide on its website, which also helps them get familiarized with the best practices they need to apply. The authority also said cargo transport documents are a must; they are proof of the goods one is in charge of and dictate the conditions in which they are carried. They also contribute to more investment in the sector, since they set the rights and responsibilities of the parties involved in the transport operations. La st year, over 10 million such documents were issued across the Kingdom. According to TGA, regulations and requirements parties involved in the logistics services sector must comply with have led to its significant growth. As a result, the Kingdom moved 17 places up in the Logistics Performance Index issued by the World Bank in 2023. It moved alongside operational efficiency and sector initiatives. The authority's use of technologies improved the sector efficiency and services, and helped it achieve its objectives. For example, for the first time in the Kingdom, TGA introduced last year the first hydrogen-powered and e-trucks, and launched the regulatory sandbox, the first innovation program that provides a flexible space for companies to pilot new transportation models in an organized way.
