General

Cairo: The League of Arab States, established in 1945, is the first international organization aimed at fostering cooperation among its member states, as reaffirmed in the preamble of its founding charter. An exhibition at the league's headquarters in Cairo showcases the journey of the league as a testament to eighty years of joint Arab action. Its artifacts chronicle the Arab nation's experiences through triumphs and challenges, conveying a message of continuity toward the future.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the exhibition narrates the founding of the league on March 22, 1945, by original members: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, which has since expanded to 22 members. Included is a document recording the meeting between King Abdulaziz Al Saud and King Farouk I of Egypt at the league's inauguration on Safar 12, 1365 AH. The exhibition also displays ratification documents from the kings and rulers of the founding states, alongside a rare collection of photographs and minutes that illustrate the evolution of joint Arab action over the decades.

This exhibition celebrates the league's 80th anniversary, featuring the Joint Defense and Economic Cooperation Treaty, various volumes recounting its history, and examples of Arab cooperation across multiple fields, highlighting the league's role in strengthening relations and achieving common goals.
