Cabinet approves bylaw to compensate farmers affected by agricultural risks

A Cabinet session held Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, approved a bylaw for compensating farmers affected by agricultural risks for 2023. The regulation comes in line with the amendments made on Agricultural Risk Management Fund Law No. (5) of 2009 and aims to compensate farmers who are non-subscribers in the fund. The system also seeks to address the Kingdom’s vulnerability to climate change and emergence of natural hazards, primarily torrential rains and winds that affect crops more than frost risk. Additionally, the Council of Ministers approved an amended bylaw for Hajj Fund’s administrative organization for 2023, aimed to enhance its work mechanism by creating new administrative units within its organizational structure. The Cabinet approved the mandating reasons for a draft bylaw for the administrative organization system of Ministry of Education,in preparation for sending the regulation to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to complete procedures for issuing it in accordance with rules in place. Under the proposed amendment, a position of Secretary-General for Vocational and Technical Education Affairs will be created in the ministry, and Media Directorate will be linked to the minister. The Council also approved the validating reasons for the draft bylaw for waste control, management and supervision in agricultural, pastoral and forest lands and waste of agricultural sector for 2023, in preparation for sending the regulation to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau for the purposes of issuing it, giving it the status of urgency. The system aims to set environmental and agricultural requirements for collecting hazardous waste from farmers and untreated primary organic agricultural waste, in addition to regulating some issues related to this process. The Council also approved the mandating reasons for administrative organization bylaw for Jordan Maritime Commission for 2023, aimed to amending its organizational structure. On the other hand, the Council of Ministers approved the recommendations of the Settlement and Reconciliation Committee to settle 626 outstanding tax cases between taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department. The Cabinet also approved recommendations of Settlement and Reconciliation Committee to settle 15 pending cases between taxpayers and/or Violators, and Jordanian Customs Department, and paying the full due amounts with any fees, taxes or expenses within a 2-month period from the date of issuing this decision. The Cabinet decided to retire Secretary-General of the Audit Bureau, Ibrahim Majali.
