Austria congratulated Saturday Spain on being EU president as of today and vowed to fully back it in its mission.
Austria’s foreign ministry expressed, on Twitter, its sincere congratulations to Sweden, which led successfully the EU over the last six months.
Austria further wished every success to Spain, calling for maintaining the European unity and said it is the EU member states’ great power.
In line with the EU rotating presidency system, Spain will lead the bloc until the end of this year. This is the fifth time for Spain to head the EU since its establishment in 1986.
During its 6-month presidency of the EU, Spain will face several challenges, topped with the war in Ukraine, increasing competitive capability, enhancing ties with other parts like Latin America and others.
