Riyadh: Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi condemned the extremist statements by an official from the occupying entity, aiming to impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank. Al Yamahi emphasized that such statements pose a serious threat to the security, peace, and stability of the region, constituting a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions. Notably, this includes Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli actions aimed at altering the demographic make-up, character, and status of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, particularly Jerusalem. According to Saudi Press Agency, Al Yamahi pointed out that all Israeli settlement activities within the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, are illegal under international law. The International Court of Justice's advisory opinion reaffirmed the illegality of both the Israeli occupation and its settlements, categorizing them as occupied Palestinian territory. He reiterated that Israel holds no sovereignty over these areas. Al Yamahi called on the international community and the UN Security Council to take decisive and robust measures to prevent the execution of such plans, which would jeopardize peace efforts, heighten tensions, worsen the plight of the Palestinian people, and diminish the prospects for a two-state solution.
