AlUla Fuel Stations Showcase Architectural Designs Inspired by Nature

Alula: Fuel stations in AlUla Governorate highlight a modern approach to urban planning through architectural designs inspired by the region's natural landscape and desert palette, harmonizing architecture with the environment, enhancing the urban landscape, and redefining the concept of traditional fuel stations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the designs incorporate contemporary materials and lines that reflect AlUla's identity, enriching aesthetic integration and user experience while preserving the desert landscape.

The innovative designs were developed by architect Salwa Samargandi of SAL Architects, who balanced aesthetics and functionality by drawing inspiration from AlUla's cultural heritage. One fuel station project received international recognition, winning the prestigious World Architecture Award in the Realized Projects category, as selected by a jury of international architects.

These efforts are part of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) initiative to enhance infrastructure and support national talent, aiming to improve service standards and the overall experience for residents and visitors. Additionally, the RCU established the AlUla Design Studio to guide architects and the community in creating designs that harmonize with AlUla's natural environment. The studio provides consultations on new projects and restorations, ensuring compliance with urban planning guidelines and sustainability principles.

This participatory approach seeks to preserve AlUla's architectural heritage and empower the local community to select appropriate development options that respect the region's history and uphold high standards of safety and sustainability.
