Riyadh: GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's commitment to strengthening its international presence and highlighting the region's achievements in economic and financial development. He noted that this objective is being pursued through active participation in joint meetings and Gulf economic events held on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi praised the IMF for its role in strengthening the strategic partnership with the GCC, emphasizing its importance in addressing global challenges impacting the region, such as inflationary pressures and fluctuations in oil prices.

The meeting also addressed preparations for the upcoming joint session between GCC finance ministers and central bank governors and the IMF managing director, to be held on the sidelines of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee meeting in October. Preparations are also underway for a separate meeting between the GCC finance ministers and central bank governors, as well as their counterparts from Central Asia and the Caucasus.

He also noted that the success of the Gulf economic event organized by the GCC at the World Bank last year has laid the groundwork for the upcoming event to be held in cooperation with the IMF this October. He emphasized that the event will serve as a vital platform for deepening dialogue on key issues related to the economies of the GCC. It will also offer an opportunity to exchange experiences and share best practices in the economic and investment fields.
