Tunis: AGFUND board of directors' chair and Center of Arab Women for Training and Research (CAWTAR) board of trustees' chair Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz signed two cooperation agreements with CAWTAR on Tuesday that aim to advance their joint efforts promoting the role of women in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhancing economic empowerment, and supporting the center's institutional building.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the two agreements were signed on the sidelines of the 25th Board of Trustees meeting of CAWTAR's board meeting, chaired by Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz. The meeting also saw the attendance of Tunisian Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly Asma Jebri.
The first agreement, titled "Institutional Building Support for the Arab Women Center for Training and Research (CAWTAR) for 2025," focuses on supporting the Regional Financial Literacy Excellence Center (RFLEC)-a unit of CAWTAR-and aims to enhance economic empowerment opportunities for women through income-generating initiatives.
The second agreement, titled "Empowering Women in Vulnerable Situations to Improve Their Social and Economic Status, Enhance Agricultural Contributions, and Tackle Climate Change Impacts," intends to be executed in Tunisia, Senegal, and Jordan, utilizing sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
The project is part of the broader developmental vision of both AGFUND and CAWTAR, extending their commitment to the SDGs 2030 and the outcomes of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai in 2023.
The collaboration underscores the ongoing commitment of both AGFUND and CAWTAR to advancing women's causes and promoting inclusive development through strategic partnerships aimed at creating sustainable impact, strengthening community capacities, and addressing development challenges in the region.
