Santiago: An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck northern Chile today, causing minor damage to infrastructure and power outages for more than 20,000 people.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at 15:1 pm local time (15:5 pm GMT) at a depth of 76 kilometers. Its epicenter was near the coast of the Atacama Desert. Authorities noted that no injuries were recorded as a result of the earthquake.
