Vice Sport Minister Crowns Carlo Biado with World Pool Championship Trophy

Jeddah: Vice Minister of Sport Bader bin Abdulrahman Alkadi presented the World Pool Championship trophy to Filipino player Carlo Biado. The event took place over six days of competition at the Green Halls in Jeddah, featuring 128 elite players from the sport's stars, representing over 40 countries worldwide.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Carlo Biado reached the final by defeating his compatriot Bernie Regalario with a score of 11-3. American player Fedor Gorst, the reigning world champion from 2019 to 2024, advanced to the final after overcoming Albanian player Kledio Ka§i with a score of 11-7. Carlo then claimed the title by defeating Gorst, the previous edition's champion, in a match that lasted over three hours and concluded with a score of 15-13.

The championship featured numerous upsets and showcased the rise of promising talents from various nationalities, enjoying significant public attendance over the final three days. This was complemented by extensive media coverage from both local and international outlets, highlighting the growing global interest in the sport.

During the championship, the "Saudi Arabia Junior Open 2025" competitions were held over four days, culminating in Indonesian player Albert Yanuarta being crowned champion after defeating German player Pius Baier with a score of 9-5. This victory marks Yanuarta's second title in the series of Open junior tournaments, further establishing his reputation as one of the most promising emerging talents in the billiards scene.

The tournament's organization is noteworthy, as it is a collaboration between the Saudi Billiard and Snooker Federation and the Matchroom company, with direct supervision from the Ministry of Sport.
