United Nations: Water-borne diseases in Gaza are spreading as the temperature rises

Gaza: United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator Jamie McGoldrick said on Friday that waterborne diseases are spreading in Gaza due to a lack of clean water and high temperatures.

He explained to reporters during a video conference from Jerusalem, ‘The weather is getting very hot there… People are getting much less water than they need, and as a result, water-borne diseases have emerged due to the lack of safe and clean water and the breakdown of sewage systems.’

‘We have to find a way in the coming months to provide a better supply of water in areas where people are currently crowded in,’ he said after his recent visit to the Gaza Strip.

Polluted water and poor sewage systems are linked to diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, and hepatitis, according to the World Health Organization
