Riyadh: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has issued a stark warning about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip, stating that children are dying at an unprecedented rate due to famine and the ongoing conflict.
According to Saudi Press Agency, UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban said after his fourth visit to the region that the signs of profound suffering and hunger are clear on the faces of families and children. He stressed that the decisions made now will determine whether tens of thousands of children live or die.
Chaiban reported that more than 18,000 children have been killed in Gaza since the war began on October 7, 2023. He reiterated the urgent need for a massive increase in aid, calling for at least 500 trucks carrying humanitarian and food supplies to be allowed into the strip daily via all routes.
