Makkah: Supporting Saudi Vision 2030, Umm Al-Qura University has mobilized over 2,000 staff and 1,469 trained student volunteers to serve pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season. The university is playing a crucial role in facilitating the annual pilgrimage by leveraging its resources and expertise to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for participants.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the university's specialized institutes are enhancing operational efficiency by conducting 16 field research studies and delivering 348 training courses. These efforts have surpassed one million training hours, aimed at equipping Hajj service providers with the necessary skills and knowledge to manage the influx of pilgrims effectively.
On the ground, students trained in crowd and disaster management are actively collaborating with health and civil defense agencies. This collaboration is crucial in providing vital services, including translation and guidance in over 40 languages, to accommodate the diverse needs of pilgrims from around the world.
Additionally, the institution has embraced 600 innovative service ideas and hosted 30 scientific forums. It has also welcomed 13,500 pilgrims to its cultural center, highlighting the integration of academic research and volunteerism to enrich the Hajj ecosystem. These efforts underscore the university's commitment to supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 through education and community service.
