The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advised against all travel to the whole of Russia amid reports of military tensions in the Rostov region, south Russia.
There is “a risk of further unrest” across Russia and there is “a lack of available flight options to return to the UK,” a foreign travel advice said Saturday.
“If your presence in Russia is not essential, we strongly advise that you consider leaving by remaining commercial routes.
“Your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against FCDO advice. Consular support is also severely limited where FCDO advises against travel.
“British nationals in Russia should exercise extreme caution at all times and consider the risks if they decide to leave Russia by any route. Travel within or out of Russia is at your own risk.
“If you decide to remain in Russia, keep your departure plans under constant review and ensure your travel documents are up to date,” the FCDO added.
Reports emerging from Russia indicate that militants from Wagner private military group, who started a mutiny earlier today and took hold of Rostov city, are moving north towards Moscow.
